Personal Information
My husband and I have four beautiful children. Our first two children
were born in the hospital. I gave birth naturally without medications,
although I couldn’t get out of having an IV and episiotomy.
It was so hard to keep telling the nurses and physician I did not
want any medications. I did not have a traumatic hospital experience,
but I knew natural birth could be better. I had always wanted to deliver
babies, but didn’t know which route to pursue. I took my prerequisites
for nursing school at Columbus University in Georgia. My husband was
in the military at that time and we received orders to Korea. My children
and I accompanied him overseas. While there, my eyes were opened to
alternative healthcare. When we returned to San Antonio, I discovered
midwives and homebirth. I was “hooked” immediately. I
had my last two children at home, including the last one in the water!
I was amazed at the difference in my births at home in comparison
to my hospital births. My homebirths were so much easier and more
personal. Our children now range in age from 6 to 14 years of age. |
